Instagram Edits gets keyframe editing and voice enhancements with a new major update

Instagram has rolled out a new set of features for its video editing app, Edits. The standalone app that lets Instagram creators edit their videos with even more creativity and precision now gets more advanced editing functions, including the addition of Keyframes, which allows users to mark and modify specific points in their video timeline.

The official Instagram Creators account announced this new update: "You've been asking for Keyframes on Edits and we're so excited to share that it's finally here, alongside some other updates like new additions to the Ideas tab, voice enhancement, and even more text effects."

Instagram Edits app’s new features

Keyframes – With this feature, Instagram creators will be able to animate video clips by adjusting their position, rotation, and scale at precise moments. It will allow users to add a subtle zoom-in or a dramatic spin effect. The feature promises to bring a new level of polish to Instagram videos, and currently it supports stickers, text, and overlays. However, Instagram has assured that cutouts will also be available soon.

Text effects – Instagram has also added a fresh set of text effects, as users will get over 30 new styles to choose from, including playful options like Fisheye, Arch, Cube, and Whirl. This will allow creators to add motion and flair to on-screen text to highlight a key message or add markers in short videos.

Voice enhancements – With this latest update, Instagram Edits users can also apply enhancements to voiceovers to eliminate unwanted background noise. Previously, this feature was only accessible for video clips. It is ideal for users who use narrations or commentary on their videos, as it helps in delivering clearer, more professional audio without needing extra software.

Ideas Tab – The Ideas Tab now offers more practical tools for planning content, as creators can save audio tracks they want to use later and add sticky notes. It also allows users to leave comments on audio tracks that they want to use and view later, that too in full-screen mode. With this feature, creators can plan and organize content more easily, especially when multiple users are involved in a project.
