Message translation feature in Instagram

Social media platform Instagram has announced new DM features for users. The new Instagram DM features include message translations, sharing music with friends without leaving chats, scheduled messages and reminders, pinned content and group chat QR codes.

Translate messages

With Instagram’s new message translation feature, you can communicate around the globe without worrying about a language barrier. You can translate messages from anyone located anywhere directly within your DMs.

“To translate a message in your chat, hold down on the message sent or received in another language and tap “Translate”. The translated message will then appear below the original message in your conversation”, Instagram said in a blog post.

Share music with friends without leaving chats

On Instagram, you can now share music without leaving your 1:1 or group chats. “To share a song, open the sticker tray in your chat and tap on the ‘Music’ option to search for any song in the Instagram audio library. Tap on the track to send a 30-second preview of the song featuring a spinning vinyl of the album”, Instagram said in the blog post.

Schedule text messages and reminders

You can now schedule text messages in Instagram DMs. You can also schedule reminders to stay on top of daily tasks.
“To schedule a message, type your text message and hold down on the send button. Select the date and time that your message will be sent, and then tap on the “Send” button to finish scheduling it”, says the blog post.

Pin important messages, memes and more in your chats

Another new Instagram DM feature is pinning specific messages to the top of any 1:1 or group chat. “To pin a message, image, meme, or Reel to the top of your chat, hold down on the message and tap on “pin”. If you want to unpin a message, hold down on the message you’d like to unpin and tap on “unpin”. You can pin up to three messages per conversation”.

Invite new friends to your group chat with a QR code

You can now share a personalized QR for each of your group chats. Send the personalised QR code to people you want to connect with; they can scan and join your specific group chat.

“If you ever need to refresh the QR code, the admin of the group chat can do so at any time, giving your group chat control over who can join the chat. To make a QR code invite in your DM, open the group chat you’d like to invite others to and tap on the group name at the top. Tap on the invite link, then tap on QR code to view the QR code invite. Share the QR code with friends when you’re together IRL, via DM, or save it to the camera roll”, the photo-and-video sharing app said.
