India Post announces '24 Speed Post’ express service in 6 cities with SMS tracking and OTP-based delivery

The Department of Posts has announced the launch of a new express delivery service called s, designed to provide faster and time-bound delivery of urgent consignments. The service will be launched on March 17, 2026, by Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia along with Minister of State for Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani in New Delhi.

The initiative aims to improve delivery timelines for important documents and parcels by introducing assured next-day and two-day delivery options across major metropolitan regions.

Guaranteed delivery timelines

Under the new service, 24 Speed Post will provide next-day guaranteed delivery (D+1) for time-sensitive consignments. Along with this, the Department of Posts will also offer 48 Speed Post, which ensures delivery within two days (D+2).

In the initial phase, the services will be available across six major cities:

Delhi

Mumbai

Chennai

Kolkata

Bengaluru

Hyderabad

According to the Department of Posts, dedicated processing windows and priority air transmission will support faster movement of consignments between these cities.

Tracking, OTP delivery and business features

The new express delivery services will also introduce additional features aimed at improving reliability and customer convenience.

One of the key features is OTP-based secure delivery, which adds an extra layer of verification at the time of parcel handover. Customers will also receive end-to-end tracking with SMS alerts, allowing them to monitor shipment status during transit.

For business customers, the service will include Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) options, free pickup for bulk shipments, API integration, and centralized billing systems. These features are intended to simplify logistics operations for enterprises that depend on frequent parcel shipments.

Money-back guarantee for delays

The Department of Posts has also introduced a money-back guarantee if the delivery does not meet the promised timeline. This policy aims to strengthen reliability for customers sending urgent documents or packages.

With the launch of 24 Speed Post, India Post is expanding its premium express delivery network while focusing on faster logistics services in key metropolitan corridors.
