Apple’s big WWDC 2025 event was briefly interrupted on Monday when a protestor stormed the stage, claiming to be an Apple employee. The incident happened just as Apple’s senior vice president of software, Craig Federighi, was addressing the audience during his opening remarks.

The man walked in from the crowd, shouting something that wasn’t immediately clear. He unzipped his jacket to reveal a keffiyeh and held up what looked like an employee badge. Eyewitnesses said he was heard saying, “I work at Apple,” although much of what he said was hard to make out due to the noise and confusion.

Security quickly stepped in and escorted him out of the venue within 30 seconds. Despite the disruption, Federighi kept speaking and carried on with the presentation without reacting, keeping the momentum of the keynote intact.

This wasn’t the first protest at a major tech event in recent weeks. Similar incidents were seen at Microsoft’s Build conference last month. There, a Microsoft employee interrupted CEO Satya Nadella’s keynote with a “Free Palestine” protest. Another protestor disrupted a session the next day, this time targeting a presentation by Microsoft’s Core AI head, Jay Parikh.

As of now, it’s unclear whether the protestor actually works at Apple or what his specific message was. But the moment certainly added an unexpected twist to what is usually a tightly choreographed event.
