Chinese tech giant and smartphone maker Huawei could launch its triple-folding phone in September, according to a report by Huawei Central. The report is based on a statement given by Yu Chengdong (aka Richard Yu), CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, during a press event for Huawei's STELATO S9 electric car.
According to the report, when a customer at the press event asked the Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO when he could buy the company’s triple-folding phone, Yu said that it would be possible “next month, by September”.
If Huawei does launch its triple-foldable smartphone by next month, then it will become the first company in the world to achieve this milestone. And it seems like Yu Chengdong means business when he revealed the launch month of Huawei’s tri-fold phone as he has reportedly been seen with the triple-folding device, with a punch-hole camera visible on the phone.
Huawei's triple-folding phone: Rumours about display and camera
Huawei's long-rumoured triple-folding phone is said to feature a 10-inch inner screen which would be almost the same size as found in modern-day tablets like the Apple iPad (10th Generation) or the Lenovo Tab M10 series of Android tablets.
Huawei’s triple-foldable device is also expected to sport a camera placement similar to that of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro. We can also expect the Huawei tri-fold device to have the “Mate” branding. As per earlier leaks, the Huawei triple-folding phone is codenamed Iceland. As of now, nothing is known about the specifications of Huawei’s triple-folding smartphone.
As per the report, Huawei is also looking to find a way to reduce the price of the triple-folding phone.
Along with Huawei, Samsung and Honor are also competing in the race to launch the world’s first triple-folding phone. Honor filed for a tri-fold device-related patent in July while Samsung’s also been rumoured to be working on a triple-folding smartphone. So, who’s going to be the first to launch the world’s first triple-folding phone? We know Huawei is going to win if it unveils its tri-fold phone this September.
