Turn off auto-saving to Photos
Open WhatsApp and go to Settings, then tap Storage and Data. Switch off Save to Photos. This stops every image and video from automatically appearing in your Photos app, which is one of the biggest reasons iPhone storage fills up without you noticing.

Check what’s actually taking up space
Go to WhatsApp Settings, tap Storage and Data, then Manage Storage. Here you’ll see which chats and files are using the most space. Large videos and frequently forwarded files usually top the list, making it easier to delete what you don’t really need.

Change media auto-download settings
In Storage and Data, adjust Media Auto-Download for photos, audio, videos, and documents. Set videos to Wi-Fi only or Never. This prevents heavy files from downloading automatically on mobile data and quietly eating into your iPhone’s storage.

Clear media from noisy group chats
Group chats are often the biggest storage offenders. Open a group, tap the group name, go to Media, Links, and Docs, then select and delete unwanted files. Doing this regularly helps keep storage under control without deleting the entire conversation history.

Review and clean storage regularly
Make it a habit to check WhatsApp storage once every few weeks. Delete old videos, memes, and duplicate forwards you no longer need. A quick clean-up takes minutes and prevents WhatsApp from slowly filling your iPhone storage over time.
