Apple's latest iOS 18.2 update allows users to set third-party apps as their default calling and messaging apps. This means iPhone users can now choose WhatsApp instead of Apple's built-in Phone and Messages apps. Here’s how to enable this feature.

With iOS 18.2, Apple has introduced support for third-party apps to function as the default dialer and messaging services. WhatsApp has now rolled out an update integrating this functionality, making it possible for users to set it as the primary app for making calls and sending messages.

If you want to use WhatsApp for calls and messages by default, follow these steps:

1. Update WhatsApp: Ensure your WhatsApp app is updated to the latest version from the App Store.

2. Open Settings: On your iPhone, navigate to the Settings app.

3. Go to Default Apps: Scroll down and tap on ‘Apps,’ then select ‘Default Apps.’

Note: You'll have to change the default app for calls and messages separately. You also have the option to choose one of the two options. Changing WhatsApp as the default app for calling will only change the default calling app and not the messaging app, and vice versa.
