Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has offered fresh clarity on the pricing and release timeline of Grand Theft Auto VI. The game is scheduled to launch on consoles on November 19, 2026, while the PC version may arrive later. Zelnick’s recent remarks indicate that the upcoming title will follow standard pricing seen in major releases.
Pricing details
In a discussion around monetisation, Zelnick suggested that premium titles like GTA VI are expected to be priced in the $70 to $80 range. This aligns with current pricing trends for large-scale console games.
His comments indicate that players paying full price for a game should not face aggressive monetisation practices. This positions GTA VI within the typical AAA pricing bracket rather than experimenting with higher pricing tiers.
For India, this could translate to a price range of approximately Rs 5,999 to Rs 6,999 depending on platform and edition.
No intrusive ads in gameplay
Zelnick also addressed the use of advertising in games. He clarified that while some titles include contextual ads, such as branding within sports arenas, intrusive formats like mid-game interruptions are unlikely in paid titles.
He noted that placing disruptive ads in a game that costs $70 or more would not be appropriate. This suggests that GTA VI will avoid forced advertising that interrupts gameplay.
Rockstar Games will release GTA VI first on consoles, with the launch confirmed for November 19, 2026. The PC version does not have an official timeline yet.
Based on past releases such as Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, a delayed PC launch is likely. Industry patterns suggest that PC users may have to wait until late 2027.
What it means for players
The update provides clarity on two key aspects: pricing and experience. GTA VI is expected to maintain standard pricing while avoiding intrusive monetisation elements. However, access will depend on platform, with console users getting early availability and PC players likely facing a longer wait.
