Elon Musk’s AI platform Grok is seeing a huge spike in downloads and earnings after launching its latest model, Grok 4. According to data from app analytics firm Appfigures, Grok’s iOS app revenue jumped by an impressive 325% just days after the launch.
Grok 4 was introduced on July 9, and by July 11, the app’s daily revenue had shot up from $99,000 to $419,000. That’s a massive jump in just two days. The high earnings continued over the next few days, with Grok pulling in over $367,000 daily, before settling at around $310,000 on July 14.
It wasn’t just revenue that grew. Daily downloads of the Grok app also increased sharply. Before Grok 4 launched, the app was getting about 52,000 downloads a day. By July 11, that number had grown by 279%, hitting 197,000 downloads in a single day.
Interestingly, the launch of Grok’s unfiltered AI companions, which followed a week later, didn’t have quite the same effect. Downloads did go up by 40%, reaching 171,000 on July 14, but revenue only climbed by 9%, hitting $337,000.
A big reason for the revenue spike seems to be Grok’s expensive subscription plans. The app recently introduced “Super Grok” at $30 per month and an even pricier “Super Grok Heavy” subscription at $300 per month, offering early access to Grok 4 Heavy and other premium features.
Even with competition from OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, Grok is drawing paying users, despite early criticism about its reliance on Elon Musk’s X posts. xAI says it has now fixed those issues. For now, Grok’s numbers are showing solid momentum.
