Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company, xAI, recently made Grok AI, a conversational AI chatbot, available for all X users.  Launched in November 2023, Grok AI is powered by the Grok AI model, which boasts advanced reasoning capabilities and state-of-the-art performance in various tasks.

Grok AI operates through a dedicated section on X (formerly Twitter), accessible via both the mobile app and web platform. Like other AI chatbots like ChatGPT or Gemini, Grok operates using generative AI technology, producing conversational responses that mimic human-like understanding. Users can interact with Grok AI by sending text prompts, asking questions, and generating images. The chatbot can respond to queries, hold conversations.

For free-tier users, Grok AI allows up to 10 text prompts every two hours and up to three image generations. Premium subscribers enjoy more extensive access, with up to 50 questions per day.

Grok AI's capabilities extend beyond casual conversation. The company claims that the chatbot can assist with research, coding support, and even automate customer service tasks. The chatbot has been enhanced with image-understanding capabilities, enabling users to upload images and ask related questions. Additionally, xAI is developing document-understanding features, allowing Grok AI to extract information from files like PDFs and Word documents.

What sets Grok apart is its direct integration with X. Unlike traditional AI tools that work on static databases or rely on limited updates, Grok uses X’s constantly updating social media data to deliver timely and contextually relevant responses.

Additionally, Musk claims that Grok’s responses are intentionally edgy, embedding humour and wit to set it apart from more formal competitors.

xAI recently rolled out the Aurora image generation model, which promises more photorealistic images with minimal restrictions.
