Google is gearing up to introduce a host of new features and significant updates for its Gemini AI platform, enhancing personalisation and productivity at the upcoming I/O developer conference event. The company has shared its latest newsletter with Gemini Advanced subscribers, where we can expect transformative updates to boost productivity and also introduce new ways of engaging with the AI assistant.
Gemini to be upgraded with new capabilities: Key details
According to a report by 9to5Google, Google has teased Gemini Advanced subscribers with new features for the Gemini AI chatbot that will be unveiled at its annual developer-focused Google I/O conference. The company wrote in a newsletter: “We’ll announce a wave of exciting updates that will allow you to experience a more personalised assistant, unlock enhanced productivity, and open up new possibilities for interacting with and leveraging Gemini.”
While specific features haven’t been revealed, the phrase “more personalised assistant” hints that deeper integration with Gemini could be coming, allowing users to handle more app connections and complete on-device tasks better with the chatbot. Other than that, we can expect more productivity features with the integration of Gemini with native system apps and newer features in existing apps.
The report also adds that Google could reveal Project Mariner, which is a Gemini-powered AI agent currently in alpha testing, designed to work within a browser by performing tasks via images, forms, and other web elements. The Google I/O 2025 will be held at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, on May 20 at 10 AM PT (10:30 PM IST).
