Google has integrated its Gemini AI assistant into the iPhone and iPad, allowing users to access the AI chatbot directly from their lock screens. This feature aims to enhance accessibility, enabling quick and convenient conversations with Gemini AI hands-free, without the need to unlock the device.
Google adds multiple Gemini AI lockscreen widgets for iPhone: Key detailsAs mentioned by 9to5Google, the Google Gemini AI version 1.2025.0670001 for iOS brings the redesigned chat bar at the bottom. Before, the bar was quite cluttered (and short) as it placed its microphone and an image option within the writing field. However, with this latest update, the Gemini AI writing field is spread across the length of your display horizontally.
The update also introduces six new lock screen widgets, including options for typing prompts, talking live, opening the mic for reminders and calendar events, using the camera to take photos and ask questions, sharing images, and other functionalities. These widgets make it easier than ever for iPhone users to leverage Gemini's AI capabilities without unlocking the screen.
To use these features, Apple users need to ensure their Google Gemini app is updated to the latest version. Subsequently, to add lock screen widgets, select Customize > Choose Lock Screen> add the Gemini widgets. Currently, Gemini AI allows a user to add up to six widgets, including options for typing prompts, Talk Live, using the mic, camera options, sharing images, and sharing other files. To start a conversation with Gemini without unlocking your phone, a user can tap the Talk Live widget.
