Google is giving Workspace apps — Docs, Sheet, Meet and others — a serious AI upgrade. In a bid to make everyday business tools more intelligent and results-driven, the company has rolled out a new wave of features powered by Gemini AI.
This latest push brings Gemini deeper into the core Workspace apps, offering smarter data handling, real-time collaboration support, and even automated meeting notes, all designed to save time and sharpen productivity, said Google.
New AI features in Docs“Soon, you'll be able to create full audio versions of your documents or choose podcast-style overviews for the key highlights, said Google in a blog post as it revealed that Docs is also getting more helpful.
Gemini will now suggest edits for tone, clarity, and structure, helping users refine reports, proposals, or blog posts faster. It can even summarize long documents, pulling out key takeaways for quick reading—ideal for busy teams that don’t have time to sift through pages of text.
In Google Sheets, the new AI features take on the heavy lifting of data analysis. Users can now ask natural-language questions—like “Show sales trends for Q1” or “Forecast revenue for next quarter”—and get instant charts, insights, and summaries without wrangling formulas.
There are several updates to Google Meet as well. With Gemini in the mix, meetings can now generate automatic summaries, capture action items, and assign follow-ups—so participants can stay present instead of frantically typing notes. It’s a smarter way to keep meetings efficient and outcomes clear, said Google.
On the security front, Google is tapping AI to help detect and block potential threats before they escalate. These enhancements add a proactive layer of protection, helping businesses stay compliant and secure without additional manual oversight.
Google says the rollout has begun, with broader availability coming in the next few months.
“As AI reshapes our world, we’re focused on making powerful technology genuinely useful and accessible, and bringing it into the flow of your everyday work,” said Google.
