Google has made it easier to keep track of your friends and family with a new update to its Find My Device app. If you’ve ever shared your location using Google Maps, this update puts all that information in one easy-to-find place.
The app now has a “People” tab, where you can see real-time locations of people who have shared their location with you (and those you’ve shared yours with). It shows their address, how far they are from you, and when their location was last updated.
You might be thinking—doesn’t Google Maps already do this? Yes, but this update makes it simpler. Instead of switching between apps, you can now find everything in one place with a cleaner, easier-to-use design.
You can also switch Google accounts and change your location-sharing settings easily within the app. This is useful if you use different accounts for work and personal life.
Google first launched Find My Device last year, and this update brings it closer to Apple’s Find My app, which iPhone users have used for a long time.
If you’re an Android user, the update is rolling out now. Whether you’re meeting a friend in a busy place or making sure a family member is safe, this feature makes staying connected easier.
