Google is testing a new AI-powered mode in Search that makes finding information easier. Instead of just showing links, AI Mode will give you direct answers, help with comparisons, and let you ask follow-up questions—all in one place. It’s currently available as an experiment in Search Labs.
What is AI Mode?
It is a smart search assistant. You can ask a question, and instead of scrolling through multiple links, AI Mode will give you a clear answer, backed by reliable web sources. If you need more details, just ask for a follow-up, you will not be required to start a new search.
Sometimes, a simple search isn’t enough. Say you’re looking for the best budget smartphones. AI Mode won’t just list links—it’ll compare models, highlight key features, and suggest sources. It’s great for deeper research or complex questions.
How does it work?
–Simply type or speak your question.
–Need more details? Just ask.
–AI Mode pulls information from trusted websites.
–If unsure, it’ll show links instead of guessing.
Since AI Mode is still being tested, it might misinterpret some information. Google encourages users to give feedback to improve accuracy.
Who can try it?
Right now, it’s available in English for US users over 18. You’ll need to opt in through Search Labs and use the latest Google app or Chrome.
