2025 is coming to an end and as expected, Google has dropped the list of its top Chrome extensions that deliver the best overall experience. Looking at the list, AI-based tools dominate it. Moreover, it also signifies on how developers increasingly integrated AI into everyday browsing workflows this year. The annual roundup features tools that support productivity, learning, creativity and comparison shopping, reflecting how Chrome is evolving into a more personalised, intelligent browsing experience.

AI browsing companions

Google notes that 2025 marked a surge in AI-powered extensions designed to function as proactive assistants within the browser. Monica and Sider lead the category, offering all-in-one capabilities such as chatting with PDFs, summarising web pages and generating drafts without disrupting workflow. HARPA AI extends this further with web automation, enabling users to track price drops, monitor changes on websites and automate repetitive tasks directly inside Chrome. Quillbot also features prominently for its writing support features, including paraphrasing, grammar checking and text generation.

These extensions demonstrate how AI has moved beyond simple prompts to become embedded in routine browser activity, helping users complete tasks more efficiently.
