The global smartphone market did not see much growth in 2022, 2023 due to COVID but 2024 yielded positive results. As per a report by Counterpoint research, the global smartphone market has bounced back after struggling for almost two years. People have started buying phones as much as they did two years ago. There was a 4 per cent increase in total sales as compared to the previous year.
Which smartphone companies did well?
–The report reveals that Samsung sold the maximum phones and remained at the top. The S24 series struck a chord with the buyers, its AI features made it stand out. The S24 series was received well by the people living in Europe and the US.
–Samsung was closely followed by Apple. The iPhone 16 garnered mixed response from the buyers because of the fact that the Apple Intelligence was not available at the time of the launch. It still did well in markets including Latin America, Africa and parts of Asia, as the Counterpoint report says.
– While Xiaomi could not beat the sales of Apple and Samsung, it grew the fastest among Samsung, Apple, Oppo and Vivo. The brand focused on expanding its portfolio, improved its products and targeted reaching more people in different regions.
– Oppo didnt perform as well as it did in 2023. It sold fewer phones but the sales picked up towards the end of the year, which earned Oppo the fourth rank.
– Vivo secured the fifth rank after strengthening its sales in countries like India and China
– Other smartphone brands like Motorola and Honor sold more phones than before. Huawei too made a solid comeback in China after struggling to maintain its position in the market.
