Google has shared that its AI chatbot Gemini now has 350 million monthly active users. This update came during the ongoing antitrust trial against Google, where internal data was presented in court.
Out of those users, 35 million use Gemini every day, according to the data shared last month. While that’s a huge number, it still lags behind ChatGPT, which is currently leading the pack. Google analysts estimate that ChatGPT has about 160 million daily active users. In fact, OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman recently said that ChatGPT gained one million users in just one hour at the end of March.
Still, Gemini’s numbers put it ahead of AI tools from other companies like Microsoft, Perplexity, and Anthropic.
Gemini is Google’s answer to ChatGPT and is integrated across many of the company’s services, including Search and Android. The tech giant has been steadily pushing the AI assistant to more users since rebranding it from Bard earlier this year.
With 350 million monthly users, Gemini is clearly gaining traction. But with the AI space heating up fast and competitors moving quickly, Google will need to keep innovating if it wants to catch up to or surpass OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
For now, the battle between AI chatbots continues, and users seem to be exploring more options than ever before.
