Just days after expanding into AI music, Gemini is sharpening its video ambitions. Google has begun rolling out new video generation templates, giving users a quicker way to produce stylised AI clips without starting from scratch.
Inside the Gemini app, users can now open the Tools menu and select “Create video”. This reveals a grid of Gallery styles, complete with visual previews. Early options include Civilization, Metallic, Memo, Glam, Crochet, Cyberpunk, Video Game, Cosmos, Action Hero, Stardust, Jellytoon, Racetrack, ASMR Apple, Red Carpet and Popcorn.
Selecting a style automatically inserts it into the prompt box, where users can further refine the idea with a description or upload an image. That image-based input ties into Gemini’s “Ingredients to Video” feature, which allows users to place themselves, or any chosen subject, into the generated clip. The tool was recently updated to support native 9:16 aspect ratios, aligning with vertical-first platforms such as Reels and Shorts.
Under the hood, video generation is powered by Veo 3.1, Google’s latest AI video model. Access depends on subscription tier. Google AI Plus users can generate two videos per day, Pro subscribers get three, and Ultra users can create up to five daily.
The feature is rolling out now on gemini.google.com and across Gemini’s mobile apps. Early availability suggests Google is pushing to make Gemini not just a chatbot, but a fully fledged creative studio spanning text, music and video.
With competitors racing to integrate multimodal AI tools, Google appears determined to position Gemini as an all-in-one content engine rather than a simple conversational assistant. Templates lower the barrier to entry, making polished AI video creation feel less technical and more playful.
