The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is one of the most awaited smartphone launches of the year. Although Samsung hasn’t officially announced a launch date, the Galaxy Unpacked event in the third week of January is expected to showcase the new lineup. The series is rumoured to bring updates in performance, camera technology, battery life, and design. Here’s a roundup of everything we know based on leaks and rumours.

Launch timeline

The Galaxy S25 series is rumoured to debut on January 22, according to information shared by IceUniverse. However, Samsung has not confirmed this date yet.

Expected models

Samsung is anticipated to maintain its tradition of releasing three models in the Galaxy S series lineup: the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Possible Galaxy S25 slim model

Rumours also suggest a fourth model, the Galaxy S25 Slim, could be in development. However, this variant is reportedly delayed and might launch later in the year.

Design updates

Leaks indicate that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will continue with the flat display design introduced last year, moving away from curved edges. Additionally, the Ultra model may feature more rounded corners for a refreshed look.

Performance enhancements

The Galaxy S25 series is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor globally, with some regions possibly receiving devices equipped with an updated Exynos chipset. The lineup could also see a RAM increase, with the base Galaxy S25 offering 8GB, while the Plus and Ultra models may include up to 12GB.

Software and AI focus

Following last year’s trend, Samsung is likely to emphasize software and AI capabilities over hardware upgrades. The Galaxy S25 series is expected to showcase advancements in Galaxy AI, offering unique features to set it apart from competitors.

OneUI 7 debut

The Galaxy S25 series is expected to launch with OneUI 7, Samsung’s custom interface based on Android 17. Other Samsung devices are likely to receive this update post-launch.

Camera features

The Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus may retain camera systems from the previous generation, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumoured to receive a telephoto lens upgrade. Improvements in video quality are also anticipated, though exact details remain unclear.
