Frostpunk 2 release date confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Developer 11bit Studios has revealed the launch date of Frostpunk 2 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in a console release date trailer for the game. The city-building survival game will arrive on consoles on September 18, 2025. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.

First launched on PC in September 2024, Frostpunk 2 was set to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles in Summer 2025. In the roadmap for Frostpunk 2, presented in December 2024, the Warsaw-based game developer had revealed its plans to launch the survival game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025, and in March, it narrowed it down to the summer of 2025. Now, the console release date has been pushed further to September 18, 2025.

Frostpunk 2 on PC is also getting full controller support on the same date the game launches for consoles, i.e. September 18, 2025.

A redesigned UI layout
According to 11bit Studios, players who use a gamepad for FrostPunk 2 on PC will experience a redesigned UI built specifically for smooth navigation. The new UI layout is designed for quick access to players’ most important actions. They can “use the bumper buttons to cycle between districts of the same type” and “interact with a dynamic radial menu that appears over resource piles, showing context-specific actions,” the developers said in a post on Steam.

Circular Interface for quick decision-making
The developers have reimagined the circular interface from Frostpunk: Console Edition and rebuilt it for Frostpunk 2 for quick and fluid decision-making. “Since Frostpunk 2 differs in gameplay from its predecessor, we carefully reworked and adapted these systems over time,” the developers said in the post.
