The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has mandated KYC compliance for all Fastags. If you missed the deadline to complete your KYC, your Fastag would have been deactivated and blacklisted. Additionally, under the "One Vehicle, One Fastag" rule, if multiple Fastags are linked to the same vehicle, only one will remain active after KYC, and the others will be deactivated. However, Fastags could get blacklisted for several other reasons. In this guide, we will tell you all about Fastags getting blacklisted and what you can do about it.

Check if your Fastag is blacklisted

The first thing you should do is check if your Fastag has been blacklisted. For this, follow these steps:

For NHAI-Issued Fastags:

Visit the official NHAI Fastag portal: https://fastag.ihmcl.com.

Log in using your credentials.

Check the status of your Fastag and update your KYC details if required.

For Bank-Issued Fastags:

Go to the NETC Fastag website: https://www.netc.org.in/request-fornetc-fastag.

Select your Fastag issuer bank and click on the provided link.

Log in to your bank’s Fastag portal to check the status.

What to do if Fastag is blacklisted

Unfortunately, once a Fastag is deactivated or blacklisted, it cannot be reactivated. Here are your options. But that’s in case of permanent blacklisting. You Fastag can also be blacklisted if it does not have balance in it.

Recharge your Fastag

The easiest way to reactivate your Fastag is to add balance to the Fastag account. Doing this will reactivate it.

Get a New Fastag:

Purchase a new Fastag with full KYC compliance. You can do this directly through the NHAI portal or via authorized banks.

Ensure that your KYC details are updated during the application process.

Follow the "One Vehicle, One Fastag" Rule:

If you have multiple Fastags for the same vehicle, only one will remain active after KYC. Remove or deactivate the extra Fastags to avoid future issues.

Contact your bank

If your Fastag was issued by a bank other than Paytm Payments Bank, reach out to their customer care for assistance. The helpline number is usually mentioned on the Fastag.
