Cloud Streaming (Beta) comes to PlayStation Portal: Features, availability and more

Sony has added the Cloud Streaming feature in Beta to its PlayStation Portal (PS Portal) remote player with a new system software update. The Cloud Streaming feature (Beta) lets PlayStation Plus Premium members stream over 120 select PS5 games on their PS Portal remote device. Let’s dive deeper into what PS Portal owners can expect with the Cloud Streaming (Beta) feature.

PS Portal owners can stream more than 120 PS5 games from the PS Plus Game Catalog over the cloud at up to 1080p/60fps. Some of the PS5 titles you can stream on your PS Portal are Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Dave the Diver, Monster Hunter Rise, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, etc. Please note that the Cloud Streaming feature in Beta only supports select PS5 games and not PS4 or PS3 titles.

In the Cloud Streaming (Beta) for PS Portal, "the DualSense wireless controller features, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, speakers, touchpad" will be emulated on the PS Portal touch screen.

For games played during the Beta, the PS Portal players will have access to 100GB storage. Their in-game progress will be automatically synced with their PS5 consoles. Thus, the Cloud Streaming (Beta) allows user the flexibility to switch between local and streaming gameplay, and between PS Portal and PS5.

The Cloud Streaming (Beta) for PS Portal will be available only to PlayStation Plus Premium members in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States.

For now, some features will not be available for PS Portal in Cloud Streaming (Beta). These include “Game Trials, streaming games purchased on PS Store, system features such as Party voice chat and game invites for select games, Create button, 3D audio, and in-game commerce”, as per Sony.
