Popular online design platform Canva, the global leader of visual communication and collaboration image-editing solutions, is betting big on India as the firm is set to launch new services in the country. With 666 million designs created in India in 2024 alone, the company is ramping up efforts to localise its platform and introduce AI-driven tools with widespread education sector collaborations.

Canva to unveil Hindi website and app: Key details

India has emerged as a significant user base for Canva, with a thriving community that includes 240,000+ freelancers, 11,000+ teachers on Facebook, and over 120 content creators. It’s the company’s fourth-largest market and offers substantial growth opportunities, fuelled by a thriving community of creators, designers, educators, and businesses of all sizes.

Therefore, to expand this user base, the company is set to launch localised Canva services, including a native app and website in Hindi. While right now the app already supports around 11 languages and has a translation tool, this new app and website will offer native Hindi services. Moreover, according to Chandrika Deb, India Manager for Canva, the platform will also work on integrating other Indian languages in the portfolio pretty soon.

While the Hindi website is in the works and more language-specific plans are underway, Cameron Adams, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Canva, revealed that AI is a big focus for the company globally. The platform already has features like Magic Design and Magic Write and will “continue integrating AI across every touchpoint in Canva.”

Canva is also a particularly popular tool in the education sector, and to capitalize on it, the company is aiming to revamp its offerings for the education sector. To stress on it, Deb added: “We’re exploring partnerships with state education departments and governments to integrate Canva for Education into classrooms.”
