Social media platform Bluesky has launched customizable video features within the app. The latest update has added a trending videos section in the Explore tab, and Bluesky members can now vertically swipe through videos. This comes after the removal of TikTok’s ban in the US market, as most social media platforms eye the success of short-form video-sharing and are now jumping on the opportunity to gain popularity.
BlueSky allows users to view multiple vertical videos in a custom feed
In a post written on the platform’s website, Bluesky added “We had to get in on the video action, too, Bluesky now has custom feeds for video. Like any other feed, you can choose to pin these or not. Bluesky is yours to customise.” The social media platform also added a new post, mentioning users can swipe up to enter a timeline of trending videos on the platform.
BlueSky users can also choose to pin the video feed on their home screen or add it to their personalized list of feeds, with plenty of customization options. For users who don't see the new custom video feed on the BluSky mobile app, the company has recommended restarting the app once or twice for the changes to take place. Users can also upload vertical videos up to 59 seconds through the app.
Jumping on the bandwagon, BlueSky’s rival platform, X, has also introduced a vertically scrolling feed of short-form videos and a dedicated button beside the Community tab, which will make it easy for users to find popular short videos on the social media platform.
