Apple’s iOS 18.2 update to finally bring this Android's battery feature to iPhones

With the latest iOS 18.2 update, Apple has added a lot of new features for eligible iPhones, including some Apple Intelligence features. Now, the company is reportedly planning to launch a battery intelligence feature that calculates estimated charging times for iPhones.

Apple released the iOS 18.1 update last month with multiple Apple Intelligence (AI) features. The Cupertino-based tech giant has also confirmed that the next iOS 18.2 update is scheduled to launch in the first week of December. This update is expected to bring more Apple Intelligence features like ChatGPT integration to Siri, Genmoji, Image Playground, and more Writing tools.

However, according to a new report by 9to5Mac, Apple may add one extra feature that is not available in the developer and public beta update of iOS 18.2. This useful feature could help iPhone users to know their battery charging status.

Apple’s Battery Intelligence feature: Here’s how it might work

9To5Mac spotted the Battery Intelligence feature in the code of the iOS 18.2 beta 2 OS update, which was released for developers earlier this week. This feature allows the iPhone's system to calculate the estimated time left for a full charge or to reach a specific level.

Currently, iPhone users only see the percentage of battery life left. However, they do not see an indication of how long it will take for the devices to charge completely. With the upcoming iOS 18.2 update, Apple aims to address this issue, helping users better manage their charging routines.

Further, the iOS 18.2 update could provide advanced battery health features introduced earlier in iOS 18. The update includes new options to limit the maximum charge level of the device, allowing users to choose whether they want to fully charge their phones or limit charging to 80, 85, 90, or 95%. Additionally, the system will also notify if a slower charger is connected.

All of these features are expected to be rolled out with the stable public release of iOS 18.2 in December 2024.
