Now that the first iPhone of the year is out of the way, Apple is gearing up to launch its next product of 2025. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is set to launch the M4 MacBook Air sometime next month. “Apple prepares to begin selling a new MacBook Air line as current inventory winds down,” notes the report.
Apple M4 MacBook Air: Expected specifications
The new MacBook Air models are expected to come in both 13-inch and 15-inch versions. The M4 chip, which is set to power these laptops, is anticipated to deliver enhanced processing capabilities. We have already seen the M4 processor on the MacBook Pro and it is quite a powerhouse. However, on the MacBook Air, it is likely that Apple will not offer the M4 Pro and M4 Max chipsets.
Moreover, the base model is rumoured to come with 16GB of RAM, doubling the previous entry-level offering, and starting storage options at 256GB.
Design-wise, the new MacBook Air is likely to maintain its sleek and lightweight profile, a hallmark of the series. However, there may be minor refinements to accommodate the new hardware. One notable upgrade is the inclusion of Thunderbolt 4 ports, which will facilitate faster data transfer and expanded peripheral connectivity. The upcoming models are also expected to support dual external displays, a feature previously limited to the MacBook Pro.
Apple's Center Stage camera technology, which automatically adjusts the frame to keep users centered during video calls, is another anticipated addition. Furthermore, a nano-texture display option, previously available only on higher-end Macs, could be offered to reduce glare and improve viewing comfort.
