Following the release of macOS Sequoia 15.2 in December 2024 and several subsequent beta updates post that, macOS version 15.3 is now official for eligible MacBooks. This new release brings Genmoji support, AI notification summary changes, Calculator app fixes, and other enhancements. The Cupertino-based tech giant has also released macOS 14.7.3 and macOS 13.7.3 with security fixes for older Macs.
macOS 15.3 update for Macs: Major highlights
With the latest macOS 15.3 update, Apple’s Genmoji creation is now available in Messages, Notes, and other keyboard input apps. You can access Genmoji via the emoji picker, activated by pressing the Control + Command + Space keyboard shortcut. Genmoji requires Apple Intelligence, and it is already available for iPhone and iPad with the iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 updates, respectively.
Genmoji lets you create your custom emoji to share with others. Simply type a description of what you’re imagining, and AI will create several new emoji options for you to choose from. It also benefits from a recent enhancement that allows you to use any emoji as a tapback reaction in Apple’s Messages app. The update also removes Notification summaries for news and entertainment apps to prevent misleading Apple Intelligence headline summaries.
macOS 15.3 update also includes a fix for a Calculator app bug, which hit the equals sign repeatedly to repeat operations. Now, this has been fixed. Also now that macOS 15.3 update, we should start seeing beta releases soon for the next macOS 15.4 update.
