After releasing the first iOS 18 beta public update last week, Apple has now released the iOS18 beta 4 update for developers. This is the fourth developer update from Apple since iOS 18 was announced by the company at the WWDC 2024 event last month. The new developer update brings several new improvements and changes, including new camera settings, icon redesigns, and wider Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging support.
iOS 18 beta 4 developer update: What’s newApple iOS 18 Developer beta 4 has added a new ‘Controls Menu’ in the settings of the Camera app. This new feature will ‘preserve the previously used camera tool when expanding the controls menu, rather than showing the list of camera tools.’
Additionally, the iOS 18 beta 4 brings eight new light mode and dark mode wallpapers for CarPlay users. This new update also brings the new flashlight UI to more phones, as after being available on the iPhone 15 Pro series, the feature is now available for iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
Further, the icon on the Lock Screen has also been redesigned for iPhone Mirroring. iOS 18 developer beta 4 also adds a new animation to the “Subscriber” badge that appears in the iCloud menu. Apple has expanded RCS messaging support to subscribers in the UK, Canada, and Spain.
However, users who were expecting some Apple Intelligence features to be introduced in the latest developer update will be disappointed, as those features may not be out before 2025.
