Apple unveiled its latest M4 chipset last month, and it’s currently powering the latest iPad Pro. Last year, Apple also introduced the new M3 series chipsets, which are currently powering the latest MacBook Pro laptops. Now according to a new leak, Apple is gearing up to launch its new MacBook Pro lineup with the M4 chipset.
According to Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) CEO, Ross Young, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 SoC will be released in the fourth quarter of 2024, with the display shipments expected to happen in September.
This new leak supports the earlier claim made by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who also suggested that the M4 MacBook Pro lineup will launch by the end of 2024 or early 2025. This new lineup is expected to include an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Air powered with the M4 chipset, while the higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch Pro models will feature the more powerful M4 Pro or the M4 Max chipsets.
Further, the upcoming MacBook Pro laptops are expected to run macOS Sequoia, which was announced at the WWDC 2024 event, weeks ago. Apple is also reportedly planning to launch a new Mac mini which is likely to be powered by either the M4 or M4 pro processor.
There are also rumours suggesting that Apple is planning to upgrade the MacBook line with an OLED display panel, similar to the 2024 iPad Pro lineup. However, the change is not expected for M4 MacBooks and could happen before 2026.
