Apple is set to launch the much-anticipated iPhone SE 4 today. There is no launch event but there seems to be enough excitement about the new iPhone. That’s perhaps down to a major shift in the design and capabilities of its most affordable iPhone.

Apple CEO Tim Cook teased the arrival of a new product on February 19, fueling speculation about what the SE 4 would bring.

The new iPhone SE 4 is expected to drop the classic — and perhaps very dated — look of its predecessors and adopt a design inspired by the iPhone 14, featuring a 6.1-inch full-screen display—a first for the SE lineup. This means no more home button, as Apple could finally bring Face ID for authentication on the iPhone SE 4. This could also mark the end of the Home button across all Apple devices.

One of the biggest changes expected is with the display. Apple could shift from an LCD to an OLED display, promising richer colours, better contrast, and an overall improved viewing experience. While some expected Apple’s Dynamic Island, reports suggest the device will stick with a notch design instead.

Despite the modern aesthetic, the iPhone SE 4 will retain a single rear camera—but it’s getting an upgrade. The device is rumored to feature a 48-megapixel sensor, a big leap from the 12-megapixel shooter found in the last SE.

Under the hood, Apple is making an aggressive move by equipping the iPhone SE 4 with the same A18 chip found in the flagship iPhone 16 series. This ensures top-tier performance, and brings Apple’s most powerful processor to a budget iPhone. What it also bring is Apple’s rich suite of AI features called Apple Intelligence.

When almost three years ago, Apple launched the iPhone SE in 2022 the device was priced at Rs 43,999. This time around also it is expected to have a similar price point. It is unlikely that Apple reduces the launch price, so it could be priced at Rs 44,999. If Apple does intend to increase the launch price, then expect it start at Rs 49,999. Apple may surprise buyers and could launch it at Rs 39,999.
