Cupertino-based tech giant Apple recently introduced its latest iPhone 17 series by updating the core design of its Pro models, and also introduced its ultra-slim iPhone Air smartphone. However, attention is already drifting towards what’s next from the brand, as we might see a change in the launch timeline of this popular smartphone series with next year’s rumoured iPhone 18 lineup.
Apple iPhone 18: Expected launch timeline
According to a tip by popular Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station, Apple may shake up the launch timeline of the iPhone 18 series, as the standard iPhone 18 may not launch at all during the company’s annual September launch event next year. Instead, the tipster suggests that the company may dedicate this launch entirely to the more premium iPhone 18 Pro models and the purported iPhone Air 2.
While Apple has always launched a single iPhone series in September traditionally, this change in strategy could hint towards the big reset next year, as Apple would likely keep the focus centred around these premium variants for the next festive season. Moreover, the company could subsequently launch the iPhone 18 with the next generation of budget-friendly iPhone ‘e’ smartphone.
Next year, Apple is expected to retain the 18MP front camera with Centre Stage with the iPhone 18 series. However, the bigger change could be with the introduction of variable aperture in the main camera of Pro models, which will allow the main sensor to better manage the light entering the lens and enhance the depth of field. Further, the company is expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone with a triple rear camera setup, likely to be borrowed from the Pro models.
