New renders of the anticipated iPhone 17 Pro Max have surfaced, showcasing a major departure from Apple’s traditional design. The renders, as per a report by Apple Insider, showcase a prominent camera bar spanning the device’s width. This design, very similar to that of Google’s Pixel series, suggests Apple might be exploring new configurations to accommodate its advanced camera systems.
The latest render, attributed to leaker Jon Prosser and designer Asher Dipprey, reveal an extended camera bump evolving into a full-width bar across the device’s back. Prosser asserts firsthand knowledge of this design, though the render appears to be an artist’s interpretation rather than an exact replica of any leaked prototype.
This design concept isn’t entirely new. In December 2024, rumors emerged about Apple potentially adopting a horizontal camera bar for the iPhone 17 lineup. However, subsequent reports, including one from leaker “Instant Digital” on Weibo, refuted these claims, stating that the iPhone 17 would retain its triangular camera layout.
The credibility of these renders remains sketchy. Both Prosser and another leaker, Majin Bu, have histories of mixed accuracy. Prosser previously suggested designs, such as a flat-sided Apple Watch, that did not materialise. Majin Bu has been known to share unverified information from various sources.
As always is the case with most leaks and rumours around the iPhone, this one too should be taken with a pinch of salt. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 series sometime in September. Till then expect more leaks and rumours but we will get to know the real picture only after Apple unveils the iPhone 17 series.
