Over the past few years, Apple has traditionally launched its new iPhone series in September, and we can expect a similar timeline for the iPhone 17 lineup this year. Moreover, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air is set to replace the Plus model in the iPhone 17 series this year, generating significant speculation about its design and features. Although Apple has yet to confirm any details regarding the Air model, a new leak explores the alleged design, rumors, and leaks surrounding this highly anticipated device.
iPhone 17 Air to come with an ultra-thin design and redesigned camera module
A video shared by FrontPageTech hosted by Jon Presser and renders by @zellzoi, showcases the purported design of the iPhone 17 Air. In these renders, the device is seen with a large, horizontal pill-shaped camera module spanning across the back panel. Unlike the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models, which are expected to retain their rectangular island-like module for multiple camera lenses, the Air variant seems to adopt a single-camera system.
Apart from this, the device is expected to come with an ultra-thin body and previous leaks have suggested that the phone could have a thickness ranging between 5.5mm and 6mm, making it one of the thinnest iPhones Apple has ever produced. The rear panel will reportedly feature a partial glass construction, ensuring compatibility with wireless charging.
This move would mean that the phone won’t have a titanium frame like the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro models. However, whether Apple will indeed opt for aluminium over titanium remains to be confirmed. The leaked images also reveal that the volume rockers and action button are on the left and the power button is on the right of the phone.
We should witness the launch of the new iPhone Air smartphone at Apple's 2025 iPhone 17 event, which is expected to take place in September. Moreover, the base iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are also expected to be unveiled at the event.
