Apple has halted the rollout of its latest iPadOS 18 update for the M4 iPad Pro models. The move comes after several users complained that it became non-functional or completely bricked as soon as they updated their iPad Pro.
The reported bricking incidents come a day after Apple had globally rolled out iPadOS 18 update. However, shortly after its release, reports began to surface on platforms like Reddit, where users detailed their experiences of their M4 iPad Pros becoming unusable after attempting to install the update.
According to a report by Macrumors, Apple has confirmed that it has stopped iPadOS 18 rollout for some iPads. “We have temporarily removed the iPadOS 18 update for M4 iPad Pro models as we work to resolve an issue impacting a small number of devices,” said Apple in a statement given to Macrumors.
Moneycontrol did download iPadOS 18 on the M4 iPad Pro yesterday morning. iPadOS 18 is running smoothly on our M4 iPad Pro. As Apple has mentioned, it is a small number of devices, which have been impacted. Clearly, Apple doesn’t want to take a chance and has now stopped the updates for these models.
The company has not yet provided a detailed explanation of what is causing the bricking problem, but it is clear that the issue is specific to the M4 chip models. Other iPad models capable of running iPadOS 18 have not been affected and continue to receive the update as usual. So, if you have any other iPad model, you can download iPadOS 18 and should not face any glitches.
