Apple has started shipping artificial intelligence servers built in the United States from its new Houston factory, beating the company’s original 2026 timeline.
The 250,000-square-foot facility is producing servers for Apple’s Private Cloud Compute system, which have now begun reaching Apple data centres. Apple Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan confirmed the early rollout in a statement to Fox Business, highlighting the achievement:
“We are thrilled to be shipping American-made advanced servers from our Houston facility. As part of our $600 billion commitment to the United States, these servers will be installed in our data centres and play a key role in powering Apple Intelligence with Private Cloud Compute. Our teams have done an incredible job accelerating work to get the new Houston factory up and running ahead of schedule, and we plan to continue expanding the facility to increase production next year.”
Apple’s Private Cloud Compute architecture allows certain AI computations to be handled in the cloud while maintaining the on-device privacy model that is central to the company’s AI ecosystem. Apple CEO Tim Cook also shared the news on X, emphasising the importance of the new facility.
The Houston factory is staffed through partnerships with local contractors and recruitment from Houston City College. It forms part of Apple’s $600 billion U.S. investment announced earlier this year, which covers domestic manufacturing, silicon engineering, research and development, and workforce training initiatives.
The early launch signals Apple’s commitment to accelerating AI capabilities while strengthening its domestic manufacturing footprint.
