Apple has announced plans to spend and invest more than $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years. The commitment includes investments in artificial intelligence, silicon engineering, manufacturing, and skills development. The company will expand its facilities and workforce in multiple states.

Manufacturing expansion

Apple and its partners will open a new server manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, in 2026. The 250,000-square-foot facility will produce servers for Apple Intelligence and is expected to create thousands of jobs. Apple will also expand its data center capacity in North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada.

Advanced Manufacturing Fund

Apple is doubling its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund from $5 billion to $10 billion. The fund will support domestic chip production, including a multibillion-dollar commitment to manufacturing silicon at TSMC’s Fab 21 facility in Arizona. Apple suppliers operate in 24 factories across 12 states.

Research and development

Apple plans to increase its U.S. R&D investment over the next four years. It recently introduced the iPhone 16e, powered by the A18 chip and Apple C1 modem. The company will hire around 20,000 people, primarily in R&D, silicon engineering, and AI.

Manufacturing Academy in Detroit

Apple will establish the Apple Manufacturing Academy in Detroit to assist small- and medium-sized businesses in adopting AI and smart manufacturing techniques. The academy will provide in-person and online training, along with skills development programs.

Economic impact

Apple supports 2.9 million jobs in the U.S. through direct employment, supplier partnerships, and the iOS app economy. The company has paid more than $75 billion in U.S. taxes over the past five years.

Additionally, Apple’s investment will include corporate facilities and Apple TV+ productions in 20 states. It continues to expand educational programs and initiatives for workforce development. The company’s New Silicon Initiative has reached students at eight universities, with further expansion planned.
