We are now only a few days away from the launch of the iPhone 16 series. Apple has scheduled ‘Its Glowtime’ event for September 9 where a slew of new products are expected to be unveiled. Apple AirPods, as per rumours, could see a refresh with two new models. Here’s what to expect:
AirPods 4 to get noise cancellation?
In 2021, Apple introduced the third-generation of AirPods with an all-new design. The design was inspired by the AirPods Pro and it is unlikely to change with the Apple AirPods 4. Rumours suggest that Apple could introduce active noise cancellation in the fourth-gen AirPods. Also expected is a speaker in the charging case for Find My capabilities. The charging case is also rumoured to get support for MagSafe charging.
AirPods 4 are likely to be less expensive than the AirPods Pro, so some features might be exclusive to the premium true wireless earbuds.
An AirPods SE?
There have been strong rumours about Apple launching an entry-level AirPods for the first time. The ‘cheaper’ AirPods will not get any noise cancellation features but are expected to retain the same design as the other AirPods. Since it is expected to be a low-frills AirPods, there won’t be any MagSafe charging support.
The more affordable variant of the AirPods is expected to be priced lower than the AirPods 4. Also, do keep in mind that Apple has never added ‘2’ or ‘3’ for AirPods models. So chances are that it won’t do it with the next-gen AirPods as well. Perhaps that’s why having an ‘SE’ model for the AirPods might make more sense to avoid confusion.
As always, Apple has remained tightlipped about any product launches but rumours do indicate AirPods lineup could see a refresh.
