Anthropic has added a new feature to its chatbot Claude. The new feature allows users to create and edit designs on Canva directly through the chat window. With this update, Claude can now do more than just chat, it can also help you design posters, presentations, and social media posts without ever leaving the chat.
This new ability works through something called the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a technology Anthropic introduced in November. MCP basically allows Claude to connect with other apps and services. With Canva now integrated, Claude can search for design materials from your Canva account or even generate fresh designs for you, all inside the chat.
To use this feature, you need a paid subscription to Claude. Access to Canva tools also depends on what Canva plan you are on.
The company has also launched a directory where users can see all the apps and platforms that work with Claude using MCP. From this directory, people can easily find and connect to other services, but most of these services require a subscription.
With more apps getting added, Claude is becoming much more than a simple chatbot. It looks like Anthropic is working to make Claude a handy tool for both creative and work tasks, with easy access to third-party platforms like Canva and more expected in the future.
