According to data from Downdetector, outage reports spiked sharply around 12:15 p.m. on August 24, 2025, with over 7,000 complaints filed in a short span of time.
Scale of the outage
Downdetector’s live outage map highlighted that the disruption was widespread, with users in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata most affected. Reports also came in from Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, Patna, and several other locations, indicating that the issue was not restricted to a single region.

Issues users are facing
The breakdown of user complaints shows that 51 percent of affected customers faced “No Signal” problems, 32 percent reported difficulties with mobile internet, while 17 percent experienced a “Total blackout,” meaning they were unable to access any Airtel services.
Several users took to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration over call drops, inability to access mobile data, and sudden loss of connectivity. Many also pointed out that the outage affected both personal and work-related communication, given its occurrence during the afternoon.
Airtel’s response
At the time of reporting, Airtel had not issued an official clarification regarding the cause of the disruption. The company typically attributes such issues to temporary technical glitches or fiber cuts, but users are awaiting confirmation on what led to Saturday’s nationwide outage.
Previous incidents
This is not the first time Airtel services have gone down in recent months. Earlier outages were reported in July and June, affecting mobile data and broadband services in multiple states. In fact, this outage marks the second major downtime for the telecom service provider.
