Adobe has announced a major update to Firefly, its generative AI platform, introducing new video creation tools, advanced editing controls, additional partner models, and a limited-time offer of unlimited generations for eligible users. The update is aimed at giving creators greater precision, flexibility, and control while working with AI-generated video and image content.
More control over AI-generated video editsOne of the key additions to Firefly is the new Prompt to Edit capability for video. This feature allows creators to make precise changes to an existing AI-generated clip instead of regenerating the entire video. Users can remove objects, replace backgrounds, adjust lighting conditions, or refine framing using simple text instructions, while preserving the original clip’s core elements.
Adobe has also introduced camera motion control in the Firefly Video Model. Creators can now upload a start-frame image along with a reference video to guide how the camera moves through a scene. This approach helps achieve consistent cinematic motion while maintaining control over composition and subject placement.
Video upscaling and new image modelsFirefly Boards now includes video upscaling powered by Topaz Astra. The tool allows users to enhance low-resolution footage and upscale videos to 1080p or 4K. It can also be used to restore older or lower-quality clips, making them suitable for modern formats and platforms. Multiple videos can be queued for upscaling, allowing creators to continue working without interruption.
Adobe has also expanded its lineup of partner image models with the addition of FLUX.2 from Black Forest Labs. The model supports photorealistic image generation, improved text rendering, and the use of multiple reference images. FLUX.2 is available across Firefly modules and Adobe applications, with broader access planned in the coming months.
Firefly video editor enters public betaAdobe has launched the public beta of the Firefly video editor, a browser-based editing environment designed for assembling AI-generated and live-action content. The editor supports multi-track timelines, text-based editing for interview-style videos, and exports in formats suited for social media and traditional video workflows.
Unlimited generations for a limited time
To encourage experimentation, Adobe is offering unlimited image and video generations until January 15 for users on select Firefly plans. The promotion covers Firefly’s video model, its commercially safe image models, and supported partner models, allowing creators to refine ideas without usage limits.
