After Pakistan Army and WAPDA's National Games football semi-final match at Karachi's KPT sports facility, a violent incident broke out, injuring a number of players and officials.

The Pakistan Football Federation and the nation's Olympic authority have launched official investigations into the event, which happened in front of live television cameras, after social media users shared evidence and called for both teams to take responsibility.

Members of the WAPDA squad challenged Army players about their celebrations after a close victory, and the altercation started as soon as the final whistle blew. Players and officials from both teams joined the conflict as it quickly intensified, and they engaged in on-field punching and kicking. Officials have yet to determine the precise number and severity of the physical injuries sustained in the event.

Some WAPDA players were shown acting very aggressively in the match footage, chasing the match referee into his changing room. According to reports, the referee was violently attacked before players and other officials interfered to protect him. The referee's allocation of a penalty kick to the Army team, which the WAPDA players vehemently disputed, seems to have been the impetus for the disturbance.

As the violent actions were shown live and extensively shared on social media, public outcry grew, leading to demands for harsh punishment for the offenders. Concerns regarding the safety of officials and the effect of such incidents on the National Games' image were voiced by numerous observers, including sports commentators.

An official from the Pakistan Football Federation responded to the controversy was quoted as saying by PTI, “An official in the PFF said that they had taken note of the incident and the Pakistan Olympic Association would also be probing the matter as the National Games fell under its preview.”

"We will carry out our own inquiry and disciplinary action will be taken against players and officials found involved in instigating or starting the fight," the same official continued, reaffirming the Federation's dedication to maintaining disciplinary standards and guaranteeing accountability for those involved in the altercation.
