PM Modi dials PT Usha, asks her to file strong protest against Vinesh Phogat's Olympic disqualification

There are reports that Vinesh Phogat has been hospitalised in Paris.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to send out an emotional message for wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified at Paris Olympics, on Wednesday.

In a somber message, PM Modi lauded Phogat’s resilience and said that this Olympic heartbreak hurts.

In his message for the ace wrestler, PM Modi said that she is an epitome of resilience and that entire nation is rooting for her. He also said that he cannot express his anguish and pain in words

Meanwhile, a PTI report citing sources said that the Prime Minister also spoke with IOA chief PT Usha to understand the sequence of events. He has reportedly asked PT Usha to lodge a strong protest against Phogat’s disqualification.

On the eve of the bout, the grappler was found to be 100 gms overweight. She reportedly skipped, jogged and worked out all night but couldn't shed last 100 gms. Phogat was to compete against USA's Sarah Hildebrandt. With her disqualification, Hildebrandt will now be awarded the gold medal.
