Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has arrived at the BCCI headquarters for the meeting. The squad will announced soon now. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia also has reached for the meeting.

Former selector Kiran More wants KL Rahul as the next captain of the Indian cricket team. While speaking on JioHotstar, Kiran explained how captaincy could bring pressure on Gill.

“I would go with KL Rahul—he’s an experienced campaigner. I don’t want to put too much pressure on Shubman Gill. He hasn’t done enough in Test cricket yet. He hasn’t played much domestic cricket either, so there’s a lot of learning still to do in the longer format. Let him grow—maybe he can be vice-captain for a year or two. As per Hindustan Times, the meeting will begin 12:30 PM (IST) and is expected to finished after one hour. Ajit Agarkar is likely to attend the press conference in which the squad will be announced.

Multiple reports suggest that Shubman Gill will be made captain of the Indian cricket team after Rohit Sharma's retirement. Jasprit Bumrah is not available for all the five games in the England series.
