A video of Indian wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma, who also plays for RCB, recently went viral, allegedly showing him being denied entry to Lord's Cricket Ground. The clip quickly spread across social media, sparking widespread reactions. However, former India cricketer and commentator Dinesh Karthik has slammed the online narrative, offering a clear explanation of what happened.
Jitesh Sharma was seen attempting to enter Lord’s Cricket Ground during the Test match between England and India. However, the security personnel at the gate appeared not to recognize him and refused entry, even as Jitesh tried to explain who he was.

A few moments later in the video, Jitesh noticed Dinesh Karthik nearby and called out to him. Although Karthik didn’t hear him at first, he eventually recognized Jitesh’s voice and walked over after the RCB keeper called him on his phone. Following Karthik’s intervention, the security allowed Jitesh inside.
The video quickly gained traction online, prompting widespread discussion on social media. Some users questioned Jitesh’s public recognition, with one remarking, “What if Dinesh hadn’t heard his call?”
“These are some issues with social media that a lot face.” Karthik wrote.

“I had invited Jitesh to the commentary box. He reached there, I came down and took him upstairs where he met everyone. This place is located below the media centre and not the main entrance of the stadium,” he added.

More about Jitesh
Jitesh Sharma is set to play for Baroda in the upcoming 2025–26 domestic season, marking a move away from his long-time team, Vidarbha. The wicketkeeper-batter, who has featured in nine T20Is for India, had been working on finalising his transfer to Baroda over the past few weeks.
Confirming the development, Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) CEO Farokh Dastoor told IANS on Wednesday that the No Objection Certificate (NOC) has been granted to Jitesh. He was a key part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad that clinched the IPL 2025 title.
“Jitesh has enjoyed a close friendship with Krunal Pandya, his RCB teammate during the side’s first IPL win in June. With him not having played Ranji Trophy last season and Pandya aiming to make a Baroda team which can win a domestic title in the upcoming season, it all came together for Jitesh to leave Vidarbha,” said sources aware of the development to IANS.
