Ahead of the second Test between India and Australia, new ODI captain of the Men in Blue Shubman Gill expressed the importance of veteran players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
They have won so many games for India. Very few have so much skill and experience. We need them," said Gill as quoted by PTI.
After the West Indies series, India will tour Australia. They will play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. It is fair to say the focus of everyone will be on the ODI series where the two senior players - Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will return to action for the first time since the Champions Trophy 2025.
When he assumes leadership of the format, beginning with the tour of Australia later this month, Gill said that he would want to emulate the "calmness" that his predecessor Rohit brought to the dressing room.

During a three-match series in Australia from October 19 to 25, 25-year-old Gill, who currently captains the Indian Test side, will take up the ODI captaincy for the first time.
"The calmness of Rohit bhai and the friendships that he created among the group, I want to imbibe that," Gill said in response to a question concerning his enhanced position.
