Virat Kohli’s second successive duck in the Adelaide ODI against Australia drew numerous reactions on social media, with most of the fans expressing their anguish and some also hinting on the great batsman’s retirement.

It was the first time in his ODI career Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck in successive innings.

Aussie right-arm medium-fast bowler Xavier Bartlett, set up Kohli with three deliveries on good length, angling away, and then got one back to nip in that hit the former Indian captain plumb in front.

Kohli discussed with Rohit Sharma about taking a review but rightly decided against it as the ball tracker showed the ball was going to hit the middle of middle.

Amidst the reactions, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also shared his opinion with an X post: “So Xavier Bartlett took just four balls to show the Indian selectors the idiocy of their decision to leave out the most potent match-winner in their squad, @imkuldeep18, in favour of a journeyman pacer like Rana. It was wrong to omit Kuldeep in England & it is absurd not to pick him in Adelaide. Awful!”

While calling for the inclusion of left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, Tharoor clearly mixed up Xavier Bartlett with Xavier Doherty, who is an Aussie left-arm spinner.

Netizens were quick to point out the confusion and called out the mix-up.

Kuldeep for second time in a row was not considered in India's playing XI.
