Jasprit Bumrah will hold the key for India when they begin a brand new edition of World Test Championship (WTC) against England this month. The team are scheduled to play five Tests, starting from June 20 in Leeds. The unit will be led by Shubman Gill, with Rishabh Pant serving his deputy.
The team arrived in London on Friday and Bumrah, who many felt would have worn the captain armband, was the loudest among the group in India's first training session in the country. As reported by ESPNCricinfo, the pacer was full of energy around the Kent County Ground in Beckenham and apart from firing all guns with the ball, he also engaged in a spirited chat with teammates and coaches.

This was the mood on Saturday and a day later Bumrah was heard telling Morne Morkel, India's bowling coach, about his glorious chapters in England. Bumrah was also heard talking about the Dukes, how it helped him in first trip to the country back in 2018 and how it became less responsive in the tours that followed.
The report further mentioned that Bumrah extracted good seam movement and consistently tested the outside edge. His yorkers were equally lethal and kept batters grounded deep inside the crease.
Meanwhile, it is confirmed that Bumrah won't be part of all five Tests as witnessed in Australia. The BCCI will carefully monitor his workload, something which was declared when the squad was announced last month.
Bumrah's record in England
England has been a hunting ground for Bumrah. He completed a five-for in his first Test in the country, which was back in 2018 at Trent Bridge. Bumrah has another five-for in the country, which incidentally came at the same venue during the tour of 2021.
Bumrah has also stunned England in the bat, which came during the tour of 2021. Then Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, who is not part of the current squad, stitched an unbroken 89-run stand for the last wicket.
