Rajasthan Royals face off against Gujarat Titans in the 24th tie of the Indian Premier League’s current edition.
IPL’s 2024 season so far has seen only one team keeping a hundred-percent win record till date, and that team is none other than the hosts Rajasthan Royals. They have won all four matches they played so far and have maintained a clean slate. Rajasthan Royals, led by Sanju Samson, have 8 points in 4 matches and are the table toppers at this stage.
On the other hand, the 2022 champions Gujarat Titans are having a troublesome season so far. They have managed only 2 wins in seven matches and the last year’s finalists are languishing at the seventh place on the points table.
Gujarat have a number of selection headaches this season. Their batting is not firing, though skipper Gill and Sai Sudarshan have a few runs under their belts. With David Miller out for at least a couple of weeks due to some niggle, their problems in the middle order are further accentuated. GT will have to continue with Kane Williamson and hope his quality adheres few extra runs to their so far modest looking totals.
Williamson may be selected directly or as an impact sub and GT will keep the reserve option of pacer Spender Johnson who may alternate with Williamson.
Rajasthan Royals are on a roll and will continue with their winning combination. A superb hundred from Jos Buttler has further enhanced their position. Many experts consider Buttler as the best white ball batter currently and if he continues his run, it may become almost impossible to stop the Rajasthan juggernaut.
The Royals have Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag also in good nick and their bowling looks most balanced in the tournament. A pace battery of Boult, Burger and Avesh Khan supported by the spin wizardry of Ashwin and Chahal is something to reckon with for the visitors. RR will keep the option of Shubham Dubey as their impact sub.
