Mumbai Indians faces Rajasthan Royals

Mumbai Indians, looking for their first win of IPL 2024 will take on Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. While Mumbai have scored two losses in two matches, Rajasthan Royals have picked up all four points in their first two encounters.

This is the first time Hardik Pandya will lead the Mumbai Indians in their home ground of Wankhede. It will be interesting to note how the crowd treats him as he was seen getting booed in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad while huge cheers were reserved for the ex-captain Rohit Sharma.

Pandya has his task cut out, He quickly needs to gather his wits and deliver a decisive blow to the visitors. He also needs to give Jasprit Bumrah to start the bowling and not hide him for later overs. Pandya would also like to give left-arm pacer Kwena Maphaka a break after the drubbing he got in Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians may consider Guyanese Romario Shepherd to step in as he can bolster both bowling and batting.

Rajasthan would consider one change in bowling. In the previous match against Delhi, Sandeep Sharma went wicketless for 36 in his 4. Nandre Burger was brought in as an impact substitute and he started with a bang claiming the wickets of a dangerous-looking Mitch Marsh and Ricky Bhui. The Royals would like to start with Burger in Wankhede and decide the impact sub according to the match situation. So, in this scenario, veteran Sandeep Sharma will have to sit out.

The other players in the Rajasthan side look well settled. Though Buttler is due for a big score, one feels it may come any day now. Jaiswal has continued his blazing form while Sanju Samson too has played some memorable knocks already. Runs from Riyan Parag in the last match have further boosted Rajasthan’s batting as they rely heavily on the top six to deliver.
